This is a guy who lives in Santa Rosa, CA. His most recent non-mini comic is The Hot Breath of War. (Alixopulos's website)
A slovenly Conanoid fights and narrates his way through an oddly cerebral little tale of mayhem. Your faith in humanity may not be restored, but it’s funnier than the sack of Troy, and Alixopulos’s goofy/moody art will stick with you.
It will probably be the hot reality show on MTV3 next season, but for now it’s inky black comedy in minicomic format. Tsunami-wrecked peasants are forced out of their huts by videocamera-bayonets so the spring break horde can degrade themselves yet again.
Fredo and Alixopulos start out at the bottom and drill new depths of depravity in this profane jam comic. Resembles a Jean-Luc Godard film hijacked by perverts and the criminally insane. Two-color silkscreened cover, with glitter if you’re lucky.
With scribbly energy and attitude to burn, Alixopulos is probably more punk rock than you, and one can only hope he’s more jaded than you, but this is some deeply funny stuff and full of strange little surprises. It’s the comic you can’t remember bringing home from the bar, and it still looks good in the morning.
